The Lima Outreach program ministers to many people, organizations, and causes. We are living what we teach. The following partial list of activities may help in your understanding of the scope of this Ministry.

Prayer Shawls and Fidget Quilts Ministry

Prayer Shawls are made with the Prayers and Love of Lima church. The shawls encircle the wearer and give support during times of need. Fidget Quilts are designed to give those suffering from Alzheimer's disease or dementia something for their hands to do. Read about the making and giving of these items at: Fidget Quilts & Prayer Shawls

Blessing Tree

Church members supply Christmas gifts for the residents of Fair Acres, who have submitted requests for a gift they would like.

Feeding the Homeless

We buy, cook, and serve the 4th Sunday of the month for 9 months of the year.

Mission Contributions

Our contributions are too numerous to list all the Organizations we support. Samples include: Redbird Mission, Appalachian, Water Street, People's Emergency Center, and 2 missionaries in Tanzania.

Red Cross Blood Drive

A member of Outreach coordinates the Red Cross Blood Drives several times each year.

Media Food Bank

Donated food is transported to the Media Food Bank at First UMC. The Media Food Bank covers a large area in Delaware County and also has a clothing closet that is free.

Rerun Shoes

IMAGINE NO MALERIA! We can help put an end to malaria, a deadly disease that kills thousands of children in Africa each year by donating your unwanted shoes. For each 100 pounds of shoes we send, a bed net will purchased from UMCOR and donated to the children in Africa.  Men’s, women’s and children’s shoes are accepted. Please, no high heels, boots or sandals.

Eye Glasses Collection

We collect prescription glasses you no longer use. The glasses are sent to various missions for re-use.

Casserole Baking

Casserole pans are distributed; the filled by volunteer cooks in our congregation.  They are frozen and used, as needed, for members of the church, City Team and others in need.

Shoe Box Project

Shoeboxes are filled with small items to enrich children’s lives all over the world through the Samaritan’s Purse Project.

These are only a few of the worthy projects the Outreach Committee serves. In addition, they also support Sock Drop, Recycling Calendars, Back Pack & School Supply Collection, Blanket & Tool Project, Nursing Home Visitation, Holiday delivery of cookies & flowers to shut-ins, Peoples Emergency Center, Red Bird Mission and their missionary, Leprosy funding, Africa University, St. Daniels UMC, Teen Haven, and countless others.
